EHSU Pride 2019

EHSU Pride Banner

Are you as excited as we are for the return of #EHSUPride19?!

Here at Edge Hill SU, we are always looking for ways to make our campus more accessible, inclusive, and safe for students of all backgrounds.

Despite huge improvements in areas like society participation, sports, and activities promoting awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, there’s still a long way to go to ensure that all activities at Edge Hill are accessible for all.

The Facts

The need for campus campaigns like #EHSUPride19 is clear:

  • One in five LGBT people have experienced a hate crime incident because of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity in the last 12 months. [Source]

  • Four in five LGBT people who have experienced a hate crime or incident didn’t report it to the police. [Source]

  • 38% of LGBT+ students participating in sport at their university aren’t out with their teammates and coaches, while 1 in 7 students are put off participating in sport at university because of homophobia, biphobia, or transphobia. [Source

Signing of the Pride in Sports and Societies Charter

Once Edge Hill’s sports teams and societies have attended our workshops, we’ll be asking to see what changes have been made to make activities more accessible across campus.

We’ll also be opening our Pride in Sports and Societies charter.

If you’re a part of a society or sports team committee, sign the charter to ensure lasting change is maintained across all Edge Hill University activities with regard to making our campus more inclusive!
