Sustainability Week 2019

 

We want you to get serious about Sustainability at Edge Hill!

 

Your Students’ Union has been preparing a week of activities and events to help you get engaged with some of Edge Hill’s sustainable initiatives.

 

With spring around the corner, there’s never been a better time to get outside in our Sanctuary Allotment, or to join the grounds team on our Campus Nature Walk, discovering some of Edge Hill’s tranquil spots.

The Facts

 

Still wondering why we need to have a Sustainability Week in 2019? Check out our Edge Hill Sustainability Fact Sheet!

 

  • Edge Hill uses enough water each year for 11,142 days,or 30.5 years, of continuous showering. 

     
  • The electricity output of Edge Hill University is the equivalent of 2,403 average UK homes over the same period of time.

     
  • Edge Hill University produces the equivalent weight in waste of 140 African Elephants, 10.5 Elephants of which are food waste!

Come and have an explore around our beautiful campus, learning about how to get involved with projects like our Sanctuary Allotments, and discovering the quiet corners you can take a moment to yourself?

The Big Edge Hill Sustainability Fair!

 

Wednesday 27th February, 10:30-14:00, The Hub
 

Don’t have the time to explore what local eco-friendly organisations have to offer? Well, we’re bringing them to you!

 

With Fair Trade tasting, visits from local animal rescue teams, and environmentally friendly independent crafts, are Sustainability Fair also has all the info you need from university teams to become more sustainable on campus!

Sustainability Crafternoon – Upcycle Fingerknitting

 

Thursday 28th February, 14:00-16:00pm, The Hub
 

Crafternoon’s are back, but this time they’re a whole lot greener! You’ve been donating your T-Shirts and old clothes, and now it’s time to turn them into something new!

 

Come and learn a new hobby, while making yourself something completely unique out of clothes that would have otherwise been heading for the bin!
