Edge Hill Students' Union Uni Boob Team has been longlisted for the Organized Fun Committee Excellent Award at the National Societies and Volunteering Awards 2022. 

 

The National Societies & Volunteering Awards are designed to honour the best of further education and higher education student-led projects, volunteering groups and societies in the country. 

 

Edge Hill's Uni Boob Team join the longlist of ten student-led groups in contention for the award, which includes a dance team, eco-sustainability activists and a dedicated Taylor Swift fanclub.

 

Edge Hill's Uni Boob Team was established in July 2021, and is now one of the most visible societies on campus. With over 1,000 followers on social media and dozens of successful events, the group has raised over £2,000 for breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!. Events have included quiz nights, charity walks, wine and paint nights, film screenings and bake sales. The group also ran awareness sessions with CoppaFeel! guest speakers and ran a Union-wide Pink Week with numerous staff and societies wearing pink and donating to their cause.

 

 

As well as winning the Best New Society Award at the Edge Hill Students' Union Societies Awards 2022, the committee continually proves to go above and beyond, utilising their individual strengths to further develop the society. The now 12-person committee contains a number of special roles such as a Recruitment Officer, an Outreach Officer and the unique Pec Rep role - dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer in men and people assigned male at birth.

 

The committee has built excellent relationships across the University and into the local community with their work now being recognised in local press and community groups. In March 2022, President Emilia McRobie and Pec Rep David Price were featured in the Liverpool Echo, sharing their excitement about joining the 100km CoppaFeel! trek with celebrity podcaster Giovanna Fletcher.
