The Three Easiest Ways to Vote in the SU Elections | EHSU

Tuesday 05-03-2019 - 14:52

Okay everyone, game faces on.

We’re less than a week away from one of the biggest events in the SU calendar…

Here’s what you need to know about the Edge Hill Students’ Union Elections 2019.

  • Voting opens on Tuesday 12th March, 9:00am.

  • You can meet all the candidates (and quiz them on their manifestos!) at our Candidate Question Time, on Monday 11 March, 17:00pm.

  • There’s a ton of prizes, giveaways, and even an EHSU Elections Golden Retriever to find on campus throughout Elections Week, all capped off at Friday’s Results Night, with performances, drinks, and the first chance to see next year’s officer team!

Got it? Good.

Now let us take you through all the information you need to know in order to cast those all-important votes!

EHSU Elections: Quick Facts

  • All votes in our March Elections are cast digitally. There’s no paper ballots, which means you don’t have to be on campus during election week to make your voice heard.

  • When signing in to the SU Website, make sure you are using your student account (unless you have already made an account with us using an exterior email).

  • All of our candidates are current Edge Hill students, and whomever you choose as next year’s officers will have the huge privilege and responsibility of representing YOU, the Edge Hill student body.

And remember, voting only takes a couple of minutes AT MOST. Simply sign in, choose your preferred candidates for each position, and submit!

Fast Track Emails

What’s easier than signing in, choosing your preferred candidates, and submitting your vote?

I’ll tell you what: not having to sign in at all!

Our Fast track emails are by far the easiest way to vote in the SU Elections.

Starting on Tuesday, you will receive one email per day from Edge Hill SU, and inside that email there’ll be a link designed just for you.

Simply click through to be taken straight to the voting form, no sign in required.

You can vote via your desktop, tablet, or smartphone – but remember, the fast-track link will be sent directly to your student email, not any personal email addresses.

QR Code on Campus

This year, candidates running in the SU Elections are not allowed to use their own iPads and phones in order to get you to vote while you’re out and about on campus.

Yes, rejoice! You won’t have some stranger shoving a device in your face every time you approach The Hub…

Instead, you will find Edge Hill Students’ Union Street Team members will QR codes that will take you directly to the voting page. All you have to do is scan the QR code on the card they’ll give you, log-in with your student email, and vote!

Here’s exactly what to do when you find one of our Street Team members on campus:

Method One: Using your Smartphone Camera

If you have an iPhone running iOS 11 or above or selected Android models, your camera will have a pre-built QR code scanner inside.

This makes your life incredibly easy when it comes to voting.

Simply direct your camera at the QR code, and watch technical wizardry unfold as a link leading directly to the voting page is opened before your very eyes.

Method Two: Using Snapchat

You needn’t worry if you haven’t updated your phone recently, or if it doesn’t come with a QR code scanner built in.

Snapchat has a QR code scanner built into the app, so all you have to do is: open snapchat > hold your thumb or finger on the QR code > wait for the app to open a link to the voting page.

It’s as easy as that!

And remember, if you happen to find the member of SU Staff roaming campus with Skye, our Elections Golden Retriever, then grab a selfie after you’ve voted and comment on our #FindSkye post on Facebook for the chance to win AMAZING prizes.

EHSU Polling Stations (The Hub and Catalyst, 12-15th March)

Grabbing a quick bite to eat in The Hub for lunch, or returning a book to The Catalyst?

Then from Tuesday 12th – Friday 15th you’ll be sure to spot our Elections Polling stations, with laptops, iPads, QR codes, and all the information you need to make an informed decision.

If you’ve got a spare three minutes in your day, then drop by, cast your votes, and enter our lucky-dip draw to win everything from Subways to a bar tab at the SU Bar.

Yep, you heard right! If you bring us proof that you’ve voted, or if you vote at one of our polling stations, you will get the opportunity to win some AMAZING SU prizes!

SO, REMEMBER!

Keep an eye on your student emails to access our Fast Track Emails, the easiest way to vote in the SU Elections whether you’re on or off campus!

Prefer to talk to us in person? Track down our street team (they’ll be wearing SU Elections T Shirts and Lanyards), or head down to The Hub and The Catalyst to find out polling stations!

But most importantly, however you choose to do it…MAKE SURE TO VOTE!
