So, the dreaded "Beast from the East" had a MAJOR impact on our BUCS Wednesday this week. In the end we only had a few away fixtures and one Badminton home game. HOWEVER, the weather didn't put a dampener on our teams and they came away with some fantastic results!! Let's see how they got on...
Starting with our Women's 1st Badminton team who faced Chester and came home with an amazing 6-2 win!! They've now won their league and have secured promotion for next year. Not only that, but they have made Edge Hill Badminton History by gaining two promotions in two years. We're so proud of them, they've proven that hard work certainly does pay off. Our Men's 1st team also showed off their hard work in training as they faced the University of Liverpool. But unfortunately it just wasnt meant to be and their game ended in a 4-4 draw. They're going to continue to work hard and give their promotion hopes another go next season!!
Now onto two more of our Men's teams, who had a much tougher time this week. The Men's 3rd team sadly lost 6-2 to the University of Liverpool, but the score did NOT reflect their performance. The team has improved immensely over the last few months and we know they'll carry on improving into next season!! Following in their footsteps, our Men's 4th team also lost 6-2 to Cumbria. It was an unlucky result and we know the team won't let it affect them! We can't wait to see how these two teams get on next season.
Onto our Men's Tennis team who faced Manchester Met in what was a league title decider (exciting, we know). They were nervous going into it and after a drama/frozen court/having to travel to Manchester at the last minute and this only added to the nerves. Despite their best efforts, the team sadly lost 8-4 in a close game against the opposition. This unfortunately means that they didn't win the league but I mean, who can be upset with a second place?! We're super proud of them and they've done so, so well this season. Fingers crossed that they can go one better next season!!
We also had some other fixtures that were played on Wednesday, so here's how those teams got on:
That's it for this week!! We have a busy week coming up and we've got all of our fingers and toes crossed that the bad weather stays away... we'll see how it goes.
