Edge Hill Students’ Union’s “Team Edge Hill” sports teams are gearing up for VARSITY 2018, an epic annual battle between Edge Hill University and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), based in Preston.

Over twenty different sports teams will be competing in the tournament to be held on Wednesday 25th April, which has seen Team Edge Hill winning the competition for the last two years running. Matches and games will be taking place on sports facilities across the campus, and around locations in Ormskirk.

The event is hugely competitive, and the “Battle of Lancashire” will see over five hundred students from the two Universities coming together. Twenty sports with both Men’s and Women’s teams will be playing, including American football, netball, basketball, football, cricket and badminton.

Dan Bocharnikov, Edge Hill Students’ Union VP Activities said, “VARSITY 2018 is going to be bigger and better than ever before, with more teams, new sports, and even a Quidditch showcase happening.

“We’d love to invite all members of the local community to come along to watch the matches, to see what Team Edge Hill is all about. Sports play such an important part in many students’ lives during their time at Edge Hill, and we’d love for people in West Lancashire to become supporters, cheer us on, and help us retain the trophy for a third year running”

The official timetable will be available in the afternoon of Wednesday 18th April at www.edgehillsu.org.uk/varsity, and all members of the community are welcome to attend the event.
