Edge Hill Students’ Union has ranked third best SU in north west England following the annual National Student Survey (NSS).
Around half a million final-year students across the UK receive an invitation to the NSS to provide feedback about their course at university.
The NSS is a very influential source of information for higher education providers. Universities, colleges and unions across the country use the NSS feedback to shape their strategies for improving student experience. Therefore, students who take part have a very powerful collective voice.
Students are asked to rate their provider over 27 questions, encompassing topics such as staff teaching ability, IT facilities, student community and timetable efficiency. Only one scale is related to the Students’ Union. Students are asked whether their Students’ Union (association or guild) effectively represents students’ academic interests.
According to the 2022 survey, 57.86% of Edge Hill students agreed Edge Hill Students’ Union effectively represents their academic interests. This is above the national average benchmark of 52.55% for unions across the country.
This score indicates a greater than 4% increase on the Edge Hill NSS scores from last year. In 2021, 53.41% of NSS respondents from Edge Hill University agreed the Students’ Union effectively represented their academic interests.
On a national scale, Edge Hill Students’ Union ranked 26th out of more than 100 higher education providers. Regionally, the Edge Hill NSS results place EHSU third in north west England, up four places from seventh in 2021.
