So, you're settling into life at Edge Hill University and you want to make some new friends. Maybe you want to take up a new hobby, or perhaps you're just looking for a group of people to socialise with. Societies are the answer!
Edge Hill Students' Union's societies are groups ran by students, for students. We have more than 50 societies encompassing everything from dance to trading cards games, plus academic societies for student teachers, nurses, and more. These groups host their own events, meeting on a weekly basis to socialise and plan activities. Some of our societies also host extra-curricular opportunities, perfect for giving your CV a boost.
If there's something you're interested in that you don't see a society for, you could even start your own.
Joining a society is easy. This page will take you through the sign-up process step by step so you can jump right into finding your Edge Hill family.
Before you join a society, you need to activate your Students' Union account. If you've never logged into the Students' Union website before, follow these steps.
1. Navigate to the log-in page.
2. Click the 'CLICK HERE TO ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT AND FOR STUDENT SIGN IN' button.
3. Sign in using your University email address and password.
4. Complete the sign-up form and answer the questions about your interests.
5. Hit confirm and follow the instructions that arrive in your email inbox.
Once you've activated your account, you can sign in and join societies.
To sign-up to a group, navigate to the Join a Society webpage. This is a full list of all the societies affiliated to Edge Hill Students' Union.
Search for the society or societies you're interested in, and click through to their pages. You'll see information about the society, including their social media contact information and their membership fee. Most societies offer free membership.
Once you've decided to join a society, add the membership to your basket and hit check out. And that's all there is to it!
You'll receive an email in your student inbox confirming your membership. At this point, you will start receiving email updates from your society committee -- that's the President, Secretary and Treasurer, who lead on society activities.
You can find out when your society meets via the societies calendar on the Edge Hill Students' Union website.
We hope you enjoy spending time with your new Edge Hill family!
Only Edge Hill University students are eligible to join a society. You can't join a society if you're not a student at Edge Hill University.
If you experience any issues when joining a society, please contact us via email: suengagement@edgehill.ac.uk.
