Across England, local elections took place on Thursday 4 May, however due to the death of a candidate, the election in the Rural South Ward, where Edge Hill's campus sits, was delayed. This election, to vote in councillors for West Lancashire Borough Council, is now taking place on Thursday 22 June.
Over 1000 people are registered to vote on campus in this election. It takes place during the summer break, so many of these students won't be here to vote. Only 72 are currently registered to vote by post, but don't worry, you can still apply for a postal vote and have your voice heard.
You must first register to vote by Tuesday 6 June 2023, which you can do online here. To apply for a postal vote, you must post a hard copy of this form by Wednesday 7 June to West Lancashire Borough Council, 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, L39 2DF.
Remember, photo ID is now required to vote, and your student card is not usable. A list of accepted ID's can be found through the Electoral Commission, or if you don't have any ID, you can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate here.
If you are able to vote in person, there will be a polling station in the Wilson Sports Centre open from 7am-10pm
