Hi,
This is just a quick update on what the Students’ Union has been doing over the summer. There will be more blogs on a weekly basis.
We have got to know the Student Union staff and are working with them to have a successful year.
Further to this we have been meeting with different departments at the University to discuss manifesto points along with other campaigns. These are in progress and so will be released when they are further accomplished.
The rebranding of the Student Union has been taking place with the old logo being changed to the new. This logo aims to be easy and simplistic so it’s highlighted by the background colour: Orange is Activities, Blue is Advice, Green is Sport, Red is Commercial, Yellow is Campaigns, White is Information about the SU and Black is corporate side of SU. The aim is to allow easy recognition of the departments in the Student Union.
We have been organising “Give It A Go”, this is a programme of taster of events and activities that students can have a go at. This will include activities organised by clubs and societies as well as other events. The idea is students can get involved in new activities they may not have tried before.

So we’ve booked the Guide Dogs to come in for the 17th of October, meaning for a small donation you can meet the dogs/puppies and their owners, learn about the great work they do. This is linked with our mental health campaign as studies have shown that contact with pets/animals can reduce stress. If successful we are hoping to duplicate the event during exam periods. Student win and a Charity win!
Continuing on the line of charities, the donations that were given at the end of summer Big Student Clearout are being collected from thankful organisations such as Southport Soup Kitchen and Woodlands Hospice. (Picture below).
