GIAG FAQs

Thinking about organising your own event through our Give It A Go! Platform?

Check out our regular FAQs to get started, and if you have any further questions simply email studentactivities@edgehill.ac.uk.

How does it work?

This part couldn’t be more simple. If you have an idea for an event, activity, or workshop that you want to see on campus, simply fill out our event request form and a member of Edge Hill staff will be in touch. And that’s it!

Who can request an event?

If you’re part of the Edge Hill community, we encourage you to request the events you want to see. To be clear, we consider the Edge Hill community to be students, societies, researchers, academics, Edge Hill staff – if you’re part of Edge Hill University, you can request an event.

Remember though, it’s best to know that anything you request will have an audience. Don’t just ask for something for the sake of it, consider who will benefit from it.

What happened to the Give It A Go! Programme?

It hasn’t gone away, we’re just delivering it differently! In the wake of COVID-19, we don’t want to put on an events programme that students can’t access, or don’t feel safe accessing.

So we’re asking you to tell us what you want to see, and we’ll organise it! That way, all of our resource goes into facilitating things that the Edge Hill community has asked for.

Can I request anything?

Well, no. If you’re asking us to put on Glastonbury Festival on the Edge Hill sports fields, we’re simply not going to be able to do it.

However, if you’re realistic with scale, have a planned audience (for example, your society would like a workshop), and you know that it will benefit the Edge Hill community as a whole, we’ll try our best to fulfil your wishes!

How long does the process take?

Timelines will vary depending on the extent of planning for the event. For example, if all you need is a room on campus and a projector for a society event, we can facilitate this relatively quickly. If you need us to help bring an external speaker, that’s going to take a little more planning.

After you’ve filled out our form, we’ll get back to you with proposed timelines and whether we think we can facilitate your event according to the details you’ve provided us with.

Who gets priority?

No one part of the Edge Hill community will receive priority over another. However, if we have a large queue of event requests, we may place you on a waiting list or temporarily close the request form in order to best organise the workload and deliver a high-quality service.
