Welcome Week 101 | Everything You Need to Know!

Wednesday 04-09-2019 - 08:37

With #EHSUWelcome Week arriving fast, there’s probably one million-and-one questions playing on your mind.

Where do I buy my tickets?...How do I meet new people if I don’t enjoy the evening events in the bar?...Where’s the best place to find out about and join societies?

Well, ask and ye shall receive!

We’ve compiled all of our Welcome Week FAQs into one handy article for 2019/20, so you don’t have to spend the next week or so worrying before you arrive on campus!

Where do I buy my tickets?

This part is easy…you don’t! (not before you arrive anyway…).

Following feedback from previous years, we’ve moved away from selling more expensive week-long wristbands. This year, you only pay for the events you want to attend.

Simply arrive on campus, look at our full Welcome Week schedule, and choose the events you and your mates want to attend.

Anyone trying to sell you tickets via online platforms is doing so in an unofficial capacity. We can’t stress enough how much we advise you not to buy these tickets, as in the past the events have not existed or have been sold far beyond capacity.

A quick word of warning: we will be selling specific wristbands for our Professor Green Headliner Show (available from the SU Bar on Monday 16th September), and for LEVEL TAKEOVER (available from Welcome Sunday), and these events WILL SELL OUT – so don’t delay when buying yours!

Where can I find a full lineup of events? And what’s happening in the daytime?

Another easy one!

Our full lineup of events can be found via the Welcome Week section of our website.

Want an even easier option? Check out the full digital guide below!

What travel is provided for the LEVEL TAKEOVER on Tuesday 17th September?

Due to expressions of interest and the popularity of this event, we are organising extra train services to be running from Ormskirk Station to Liverpool stations, in order to better accommodate the number of students expected to travel.

If you are planning on coming to this event, read the below points carefully!

  • Before LEVEL meet in the bar between 6pm-8pm where you will receive directions and advice about how to get to Ormskirk station.
  • Students' Union Welcome Week helpers will be stationed at multiple points between the University, St Helens Road, and the Ormskirk station between 7:30pm-11pm to provide directions to the station (particularly for those who aren't meeting at the bar first).
  • Level Nightclub staff (with branded jackets) will meet you as you get off the train at Liverpool Central, and will direct you to the nightclub.
  • Wristbands will also allow free entry to FUSION (across from LEVEL) which is open until 6am (LEVEL closes at 4am).

Where’s the best place to find out about societies?

Our AMAZING Welcome Fair, of course!

Seriously, if you only attend one daytime event all week, make sure it’s the Edge Hill Students’ Union Welcome Fair on Wednesday 18th September from 10:30am – 3pm.

All of our Societies will be there, in addition to Edge Hill sports teams, uni departments, and a shedload of national organisations giving away more free goodies than you’ll be handle!

Are there any specific events for mature students and / or student parents?

Absolutely!

First of all, you’re welcome to come to any of our Welcome Week events! They’re for all students, after all!

However, if you feel like you’d rather ease yourself into the university term, we have some specific events just for you:

Before you go!

REMEMBER – Welcome Week isn’t for everyone, and even if it is your cup of tea, Edge Hill Students’ Union provides so much more throughout the year!

Before you leave, check out how to get involved with your Students’ Union through joining societies, becoming a course rep, or volunteering at one of our many projects!
