Dewi Bloor, Education President 2025-2026
Hello!
My name is Dewi Bloor (He/Him), and I am your new Faculty of Education President for 2025/26. Thank you so much for voting and putting your trust in me to fill this position which I am so excited to make a positive impact for the University and for every student. There has been a lot of exciting stuff going on including the construction of the New Student Union building which will be my base for this year.
I live in Ormskirk currently but was born in Wrexham (North Wales) with my parents, sister, and my step-parents. I have epilepsy but it is very well under control! I really enjoy playing and watching football, playing pool, running, and going to the gym. I am a very sociable person and have been described as kind and caring by my friends and family, so don’t be shy to come and speak to me with whatever assistance you need!
I decided to run for the role of Education President for many reasons. Firstly, I want to ensure that every student's voice matters, is heard, and acted upon. I wanted to work closely with the leadership team at Edge Hill to ensure that mental health and wellbeing is a top priority and something that isn’t ignored. As with much experience of not being able to have the assistance I required, I know how deeply this can affect students' studies. I want it to be fostering environment where mental health is discussed, supported, and prioritised.
I am extremely eager also to promote an equal learning environment for all to enhance and grow the students' academic and personal experiences at university. I want to work with teaching staff to delve into how communication can be improved for present students, and those who will be starting in the future. From personal experience, I know how challenging and daunting it can be to communicate with staff. As someone who has epilepsy, it has sometimes been difficult for me as I used to have seizures quite often. That’s why a priority of mine is looking into physical and/or hidden disabilities by exploring and looking at different ideas and opportunities to develop, support and enhance students learning and development at university.
