Contract Release & Replacement Tenants

Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you wish to leave your accommodation. If you have signed a contract, this can be difficult. Landlords are not obligated to allow you to leave and, legally speaking, you will still owe them rent if you physically leave your house or flat.

Often, if there is no break clause in your contract, you should first speak to your landlord about finding a replacement tenant. This is another individual who can take over your contract for you. If you are looking to find a replacement (or you may even be looking to take over someone else’s accommodation) we have developed this webpage for you.

This webpage has been compiled by the Edge Hill Students’ Union team to help you through the process of finding a replacement tenant.
